  • Michelle

Michelle was introduced to our organization by a friend, and we don’t know who is happier that that happened!

As an artistic director, Michelle is great in everything she teaches; particularly color. Everyone who sees her work knows that she is passionate about her choice of career. One of her protégés described her as “the greatest stylist to ever live.” (I think they have more-than-a-little confidence in her).

Michelle’s easygoing nature allows her to treat each client like a friend. She works hard to get it just right with every client every time. She specializes in styles including crazy a-symmetrical cuts with bold highlights or natural soft color with long or short layers.

Michelle thrives on positive influences, and with so many creative minds around her she is able to create beautiful works of art on the heads of Columbus.

We guess her classmates knew what they were doing when they voted her “best hair” her senior year…

  • Kelly

In her ten years in the industry, Kelly has styled in Indianapolis, North Carolina, and now Columbus.

Her peers have described her silly, hyper, upbeat enthusiasm as “the sunshine of the salon.” Her positive energy and vibrant personality are reflected in the passion she has for her work, and her chair is where you want to be if you like to be entertained.

Anyone who has had an eyebrow threading will also attest to her technical precision.

She loves creating natural looks that are full of shine, volume and life and yet soft to the touch, and her technique for doing just that has now swept through the entire salon. And her full, sleek, sexy blowouts are so smooth they can last for an entire week!

Kelly is incredibly sensitive to client’s needs and finds joy in making people smile and drawing out the beauty within; that joy echoes in her work and the relationships she develops with every person that sits in her chair.

    And she squeals a lot!

  • Steven

Traci Lords, Dean Martin and Steven Leput were all born in Steubenville, Ohio. A self-confessed AVEDA junkie, Steven opted for Nationwide Beauty Academy to be able to do an internship which fortunate for us since that internship circumvented our normal interview process and he just kind-of “stayed”

Our on site “man of the house,” Steven skills range from smooth, sleek Asian hair to riotous curls. His clients (ranging from his close friends to a national reality TV celebrity) say that his warm welcoming demeanor makes them feel happy and comfortable, and his respectful, kind and soft approach leaves them feeling great about themselves even after they leave his chair.

His colleagues admire his gifts (especially with color) but possibly the best summary of his talent and ability is in the words of a fellow stylist: “wicked, wicked stellar at everything he does.”

Steven plans to continue with AVEDA advanced classes and hopes to become the Phia salon “cutting coach”.

Steven is best known for giving long, luxurious shampoos that require the need for a
    cigarette.

  • Kate

Kate has never been in a career that did not involve scissors. For years she was a professional costume designer and seamstress, working with such companies as Ballet Met Columbus, the prestigious Surf light Theater in New Jersey, and Otterbein College. Following her years cutting paper and fabric, Kate fell in love with the beauty industry and has been cutting and coloring hair for over six years.

Some of her favorite experiences include cutting legendary producer Tony Visconti’s hair in Philip Glass’s recording studio in SoHo, designing the styles for an evening of fantasy fashion at the Henry Fonda theater in Los Angeles, and she is the primary hairstylist for Dolls of Evolved, an alternative modeling group from Evolved Body Art here in Columbus.

Her clients enjoy her fun, sometimes eccentric, view of the world. Kate loves to take the concept of Haut couture, which is made-to-order custom clothing for select customers, and apply it to her haircut and hair color designs, ensuring each client in her chair receives his or her exclusive look.

…She also knows how to speak Klingon.

      our senior level stylists
  • Sarah

Sarah, one of the most recent graduates from our training program (and also known in the salon as the queen of Karaoke), grew up in a small town before answering the call of city life.

She loves going outside of boundaries and recreating exotic looks inspired by history and styles from around the globe. Without a doubt the most expressive face in the salon, this funny, positive, and enthusiastic Specialist has made quantum leaps in her knowledge and ability in the short time she’s been with us.

Her outgoing personality and love of life is reflected in the salon, from her edgier color techniques to her chair-side manner; any client that sits in her chair is no longer a client, they are a friend.

  • Cassady

Tremendously enjoys collaborating with her clients to bring her artistic passion to her client’s desires.  She loves working at the extremes:  creating particularly natural color or extremely funky creations.  She is most talented with thick or coarse / wavy or straight hair.

  • Anaya

One of the fastest-ever to graduate from our training program, Anaya’s drive was clear from the moment she began shadowing in the salon; even before she had graduated from the Aveda Institute Columbus.

When asked why she chose our salon, she explained that from the moment she walked through our doors as a client, she really had no interest in working anywhere else.

She has a deep affinity for short hair and is attempting to procure a monopoly on the heads of the drag kings in Columbus. Anaya also loves creating new, innovative looks with color, playing off shades and tones to create illusions of an entirely different cut without picking up a pair of shears.

She’s been described by her peers as “born to do hair” , “ ‘wicked awesome’ with cuts” and “the cutest, most adorable person ever”

Outside of the Salon, Anaya spends her time playing guitar, watching unhealthy amounts of reality TV, and gallivanting about the streets of Columbus.

  • Annah

Annah lived in New York City for 10 years and fell in love with the beauty industry
through her work as a freelance makeup artist. After moving back to Columbus she decided to take her career in the industry one step further and enroll at the Aveda Institute of Columbus. We met Annah at a Job Fair at the Institute and were so impressed we invited her to come in and take a look at Phia Salon. She came in and was instantly at home, stating that it felt like she was back in New York, in a gallery style SoHo salon.

She loves working with curly haired clients and edgy layered hair styles, and even as one of our new talents, already has a following. Coming from the aesthetic background of makeup artistry, her facials are to die for, and her manicure work is very precise. The bonus is that she also has great knowledge of the Aveda product line and can pinpoint that perfect product line for your hair type, skin type and style.

  • Rania

Growing up in Kuwait, and finishing high school in Jordan, Rania moved to the US with her husband and is the mother of two beautiful children.

She is fluent in English and Arabic. Her Muslim heritage along with some carefully placed screens within the salon have allowed her the ability to extend her service to many Arabic speaking and covered Muslim women within the community.

Her colleagues and clients both love Rania (and to her warm, welcoming, and caring personality); she is incredibly sincere and blunt. She has a gift for telling the client exactly what to expect, and she has the commitment to continue to tweak a color or cut until it is exactly what her client seeks. That, combined with her work ethic and ambition, make her a fantastic addition to our Phia team.

  • Pinky

Pinky is simply effervescent in her cheerfulness.  Despite the “punked out” pink hair she sported when she was hired with us, and her frequent comment that “pink is her life,” her fantastic versatility and artistic eye give us great confidence that she will effectively service a client from the punk-rock mullet to the most conservative “soccer mom.”

  • Kristin

As the most recent addition to our training program, Kristin didn’t hesitate to jump in with both feet to create her trend, despite the fact that the rest of the salon had been working on trends for more than a month before she was even hired!!

This is a perfect example of her can-do attitude, her positive nature, and her passion for what she does …her love of hair styling is accentuated by her true love in life--being a wife and mother to her two year old daughter.

  • Shirley

The daughter of a hair stylist, this profession has always been in Shirley’s blood and early on Shirley dreamt of turning her love of hair and styling into a career.

Her peers and trainers describe her as kind, approachable, genuine and sincere --characteristics which may explain why she is always in a good mood!

Her clients input? In addition to general happiness with their results, we overheard one client saying she gives the best scalp massage!

Shirley was born New England, and lived in Virginia before moving to Ohio with her husband…here they are raising their eight year old son, Jacob.
  •

  • Miriam

One of our International talents, Miriam graduated from the Conservatory of Cosmetology in 2005. She is licensed in Ohio as well as in Amman, Jordan, where she was a stylist learning cut and blow-out techniques unique to that area of the world, that she now uses to spark her creative mind. She has a tremendous amount of passion for hair and for her clients!!! With Palestinian and Korean heritage, Miriam speaks Korean, Arabic, and English. If you speak any one of those three languages, you'll enjoy her outgoing, personable nature.

  • Radeo
  • From canvas to hair, Radeo views every project she takes on as an opportunity to create art. If she's not in the salon making masterpieces, then she's painting, silk screening or modeling on her free time. Radeo graduated from the Aveda Institute of Indianapolis. While still in school Radeo applied and became 1 out of 5 finalists in the North American Hairstylists Awards for the student category, and won in July of 2008. She graduated school and shortly after she moved to Nashville, TN and worked at an Aveda salon there. After spending some time in the south, she realized she was a mid-western girl and moved to the fun artsy lil’ town of Columbus, where she has found a happy home at Phia Salon.

  • Jess

An Aveda grad and veteran of an Aveda concept salon in New York, has always been called a perfectionist (in the best form of the word).  Her attention to detail and honesty will please even the most OCD client!  Don't let your day at the salon with Jess end after the perfect cut or color - continue the relaxing experience with a manicure, pedicure, and complete analysis of the best bargain shopping in Columbus.

  •

  • Rachel

Rachel has and a passion for beauty and art in all forms, especially when she has the opportunity to create edgy and alternative hair color. Attending the Aveda Institute, Columbus instilled in her a great respect and enthusiasm for Aveda's mission and products. After completing her training at Aveda Institute, Columbus, she spent a short time specializing in short cuts, and even did hair and make-up for the Wexner Center’s Andy Warhol fashion show. She is now delighted and eager to continue her education and career with Phia.

  • Tiffany

  • Tiffany graduated from the Ohio State School of Cosmetology in 2007.  Her passion for hair started by sweeping it up, while working in a salon as a receptionist, in her small home town.  Here she was coached by her beloved mentor to love every aspect of the industry.  The core idea behind each service is "wherever you go, you have you with you" and she wants you to feel wonderful about who you are when you leave her chair.  Natural cuts, colors and blowouts are her true passions.  However, she is also a "people pleaser", so as long as you ask...she is eager to accommodate your every need.  She also loves kids and won't shy away from a little wiggling in her chair; your little ones are always welcome.

  •   new talent (our specialists-in-training)

Her training and life-experience has left her with a commitment to customer service and a positive attitude that can make even the most nervous client feel at home. As a self-proclaimed Aveda junkie with a love of learning, Sunshine is proud and excited to be part of the Phia team!
